It's Official, Men Are Getting Their Own New York Fashion Week

None

Late last year, it became apparent that the wheels were in motion for men to get a dedicated New York Fashion Week. We had heard through the grapevine that it was an inevitability and we should count on it happening. Still, there's nothing like an official announcement, which is exactly what happened this morning when the CFDA announced that New York Fashion Week: Men's is official and will be happening this summer.

Here's everything you need to know: NYFW: Men's will run from July 13th to 16th and be held at Skylight Clarkson Square in SoHo, a decidedly more downtown location than Lincoln Center. The primary sponsors for the event now that Mercedes-Benz is no longer in the picture, is Amazon and its fashion sites, Amazon Fashion, East Dane and MyHabit. This men's week will also coincide with Project trade show, which moved its dates up to July 13th through 15th. Both Capsule and Liberty Fairs are also in talks to also move their dates up to line up with NYFW: Men's. Part of the aim with this new event is to replicate the success that London Collections: Men has had in the past few years.

Now, many of the designers on board with NYFW: Men's are already participants of Fashion Week at large. This isn't so much a monumental, groundbreaking change as it is a schedule shuffle, but it's still a welcome change and proof that menswear, well, matters. With these trade shows, runway shows and presentations happening in a span of just a few days, shit is going to be lit. See you there.
