The man who put Dior Homme on the map has big plans for his new role as creative head of YSL. WWD reports that he'll be changing the name of the fashion house from Yves Saint Laurent to Saint Laurent Paris. It's not totally clear why he's taking the Y out of YSL, but it sounds like the iconic logo will remain intact. Slimane's not talking, but he's planning to present his first menswear collection since he left Dior in 2007 sometime soon. The YSL (or SLP) men's Spring 2013 will be unveiled to buyers only.

The change is probably going to piss a lot of people off, but WWD points out that it's not uncommon for a new designer to "streamline" a fashion house's name—as was the case with Chanel and Dior. So deal with it.
