Highsnobiety posted up a really dope look at the Stone Island archives in Italy, speaking with CEO Carlo Rivetti about some of the processes that happen inside the facility. All the English hooligan associations aside, the brand has carved out a specific corner of the fashion world with their high-end, functional outerwear. Rivetti calls it "homemade bread," saying, "[Stone Island] can make all the colors of the world." In fact, every single color produced by Stone Island is done within their factory and each one is a custom shade made specifically by Stone Island, for Stone Island, which allows for a higher level of quality control and problem solving along the way. He also mentions the problems of shrinkage and how every fabric reacts differently: If one piece of a jacket shrinks more than another, they have to alter the pattern matching on every single one, which could spark some inspiration or completely brick their entire fucking production process. Rivetti seems like a super fucking cool guy TBH. He literally ends the video saying, "Sometimes there's a piece that doesn't sell...that is not important." He loves and appreciates the process of making clothes with his friends. Apparently, this is just part 1 in a series going behind the scenes at Stone Island, so keep it locked to see the rest as they go live.
