The New York Times Is Launching A Monthly, Dedicated Men's Style Section

None

Some BIG media news from yesterday, guys. Capital reports that The New York Times will be launching its own monthly dedicated menswear style section. Behind the successful and often incredible ridiculous Style section pieces that currently run in the paper on Sundays and Thursdays, The Grey Lady wants to dive into the world of more widespread men's fashion and style coverage. The section will be called "Men's Style" (obviously) and will be overseen by the paper's current style editor, Stuart Emmrich.

As for the current Sunday and Thursday sections, they'll shift to a weekly spot on Friday beginning this spring. The Times' women's coverage has been a bright spot for the paper with Vanessa Friedman, among others, providing next level coverage of the fashion industry, but as we've observed over the past few years, the men's market is becoming more and more fruitful. Like, seriously, we're not the red-headed stepchild anymore. Capital breaks a lot of this down in terms of advertising revenue and overhauling the paper's print advertising strategy, but we don't really care about that shit. We'll leave that to the real nerds.

This new menswear section will surely provide us with a plethora of fodder to poke fun at, while hopefully simultaneously supplying the world with solid, well-reasoned men's style coverage as well. I'd like to think it's a win-win for everyone.
