Massimo Piombo and Kiton may not be household names in the typical guy's closet, but these Italian labels have probably been on the radar of menswear enthusiasts for quite some time now. Massimo Piombo has been a runaway hit with upscale men's retailers ever since it became available stateside, and they've recently collaborated on a line with Kiton, the highly revered suit maker out of Naples, Italy. The line, MP by Massimo Piombo, will be a step up from the original Piombo label created 20 years ago, which has been put on hold indefinitely following a Simon Spurr-esque disagreement with investors. MP by Massimo Piombo is looking to expand their nascent venture by bringing a "very interesting" third investor on board that should help them gain more exposure. The line has already been picked up by 48 stores worldwide, with Barneys New York being the exclusive U.S. retailer. The entire collection is produced by Kiton, but all creative direction rests solely with Massimo Piombo. Piombo said his goal is "to be the most sophisticated small brand in the world," and with these two labels working together, it certainly seems like a real possibility.
