R.I.P. To One Of The World's Largest Malls, Which Is Being Torn Down Today

None

It's a bad time for malls, fam. Like, real bad. With online shopping becoming basically the greatest thing of all time, the traditional shopping mall has been deteriorating for the better part of the last decade. Now, apparently one of the largest shopping malls in the world, Randall Park Mall in Ohio, is being torn down today according to CNN. After almost five years of being closed due to the Great Recession, Randall Park, previously billed as the largest shopping center in the world at its opening, is finally meeting its maker.

What a fucking bummer. Malls had a good run, but once the Internet really took hold, reality set in. And once everyone lost their fucking job, the mall was dead in the water. Shit was inevitable, really. Now, cities are trying to figure out what to do with all of the space these monstrous temples to consumerism took up.

Over the holidays, I went with my friends to catch a movie and the only theater playing The Imitation Game (NERD ALERT) was attached to the mall I used to go to almost every weekend with my friends. The only thing open in that mall today is said movie theater. Every other store has shut down and moved out. It was kind of sad tbh. I mean, I have so many memories of that place. It was where we always went to kick it and just be annoying ass kids. We couldn't drive yet, didn't know how to toke the weed and beer still tasted super gross. The inherent youthful innocence of the mall will surely be missed by all. Pour an Orange Julius out.
